GFI LANguard Network Security Scanner (N.S.S.) is a tool to audit network security and proactively secure it. It is also a complete patch management solution. GFI LANguard N.S.S.scans entire networks from a 'hacker's' perspective, and analyses machines for open ports, shares, security alerts/vulnerabilities, service pack level, installed hotfixes and other NETBIOS information such as hostname, logged on user name, users etc. It does OS detection, password strength testing and detects registry issues. The tool checks that anti-virus and anti-spyware deployments are offering optimum protection, ensuring the most recent definition files are installed on user machines. It also provides multinational and hybrid environment support through multilingual patch management and enhanced Linux checks, allowing IT admins to scan and secure their entire network environment. After it has scanned your network and determined missing patches and service packs - both in the operating system (OS) and in the applications - you can use GFI LANguard N.S.S. to deploy those service packs and patches network-wide.
