Data Destroyer Disk Wipe is for wiping (a.k.a. purging) an entire hard disk, memory stick, floppy disk, etc., optionally with the exception of the top-level files and the files in selected top-level folders. It is a stand-alone version of the disk purge function contained in Hermetic Systems'' program Data Destroyer. To "purge" a file (on a disk or on any writeable magnetic medium) means to overwrite the data in the file many times (and then delete it) so that the data which was in the file cannot be recovered by any means. Several overwrites are required for security, since just one may leave electronic traces of the original data which can be detected by very sensitive equipment designed to do this. If you wish to make sure that information which has been written to disk (such as financial data, company plans, proposals, etc.) can never be seen again after you remove it then you need a program with the capabilities of this one. Also, if you sell your old PC you may wish to make sure that all data is erased (permanently and irrecoverably) from the hard disk, including (for PCs running Windows 98) data in the swap file. Beware of data removal programs that are claimed to delete files quickly. The only way data can be removed permanently is to overwrite it (on disk, not just in the disk cache) several times (not just once), and this takes time (more or less, depending on the speed of the hardware involved). Data Destroyer Disk Wipe provides an estimate of the time required to wipe a disk using a particular number of overwrites. If it seems that a particular disk wipe operation would take more time than is available, you can reduce the number of overwrites to be used, and thus the time for the disk wipe.

Easy HTML Construction Kit

Easy HTML Construction Kit provides an easy way to create the HTML code for lists and tables, and to convert data in textfiles (such as archives of mailing lists) to lists, tables and full HTML documents. It comprises six separate utility programs, as follows: 1. HTML Template -- This creates a new HTML document. 2. Text to HTML -- This automates most of the tasks involved in converting a text file to a decent-looking HTML document. 3. Code to HTML -- This automates most of the tasks involved in converting a text file containing program source code (e.g. C code or HTML) to a decent-looking HTML document. 4. Data to List -- This is for converting items in a text file to a HTML list of those items. It can also be used to create the HTML for blank lists. 5. Data to Table -- This is for converting lines of data (separated by commas, spaces, etc.) in a text file to a HTML table whose cells contain that data. In other words, it is for table-izing data in a text file. 6. Table Creator -- This creates the HTML code for a table of a specified number of rows and a specified number of columns, with the possibility of specifying multiple cells larger than 1 row by 1 column. Optionally text may be entered into the cells of the table. To use Easy HTML Construction Kit to assist in the writing of web pages you need only a basic knowledge of HTML. You should be able to do simple editing and be able to recognize HTML tags for lists and tables, but you don't need to know much more. If you can already do basic HTML programming then Easy HTML Construction Kit will allow you to do it better and much more quickly, and will allow construction of tables too tricky to do by hand.

Easy Date Converter

Easy Date Converter is a program to perform arithmetical operations with Gregorian, Julian and Annus Novus dates and Julian day numbers. (It is a trilingual English/German/Spanish program.) Suppose a meeting is scheduled for exactly ten weeks (70 days) from Christmas Day 2003. What date will that be? (Don't forget that February 2004 has 29 days.) If you find this sort of calculation a tad difficult this program will make it easy. Easy Date Converter provides three calendrical operations: 1. Calculation of the number of days between two dates. 2. Addition or subtraction of a number of days to or from a date. 3. Interconversion among Gregorian (a.k.a. Common Era) dates, Julian Calendar dates, dates in the Annus Novus Calendar, Julian day numbers and dates in the form yyyyddd (sometimes erroneously called "Julian dates")

Hermetic Word Frequency Counter Advanced

This software scans a text file, multiple files or text on the clipboard, and counts the number of occurrences of the different words. The words which are found and displayed can be ordered alphabetically or by frequency. The program can be told to allow or disallow words with numerals, hyphens, apostrophes, underscores or colons, to ignore words which are short or which occur infrequently, and to ignore words (e.g., common words) contained in a specified file. It can also be told to count only words in a specified list. This software may be used with text in languages other than English, in particular, with French, German, Italian, Spanish and Portuguese text. It can be used with XML files and with files containing program source code, e.g. C++. Results can be written to an output file, optionally comma-delimited for use with spreadsheets.

Modified File Backup

This software is for backing up files in a selected folder and in any number of subfolders of that folder. The software can be told to back up only files which have changed since the last backup (thus saving time by not copying files unnecessarily). It will give a report (without doing a backup) of all files which have changed since the last backup. It will also delete all backup files or just those which have become obsolete. This makes it easy to ensure that the set of backup files corresponds exactly to the set of current files, if an exact image is desired. This software was developed based on the assumption that one normally wishes to back up several different sets of files and to do this frequently (perhaps every day). Thus it is possible to save a particular configuration or setup in a setup file. When you wish to do a particular backup you simply load the appropriate setup file and request the program to back up all files which have been modified, or are new, since the last backup.
