Spy-CD is a full text search engine for HTML, PDF, DOC, XLS, PPT and TXT CDs. It is platform-independent and runs in most browsers. The Spy-CD Java applet is a powerful search tool with word highlighting. Spy-CD supports 11 languages and recognises most web character sets. Spy-CD can be configured in many ways. Use the supplied Spy-CD-Wizard Windows tool to scan your web pages to build and edit the search database. It then builds search page for your CD. Both Spy-CD-Wizard and Spy-CD are fast and cope with large sites well.

ShellRun

ShellRun is a program that will display a web page when your CD is inserted into a Windows computer. ShellRun can alternatively display a PDF file, Word document, MP3 file or any other document. AutoRun works in Windows only. ShellRun displays a small pop up window and then attempts to run the appropriate viewer program to show your file. For example, for a web page, ShellRun asks Windows to start the default browser to display the web page. Put the ShellRun.exe runtime on your CD along with a suitable AUTORUN.INF file. Remember to print manual instructions on your CD for users who have AutoRun disabled, or for those who have other sorts of computer. ShellRun can also be run from a command line prompt or using Start+Run to display a file or URL. The development kit has an install/uninstall facility. The development kit also contains an article describing how to put a web site on CD, i.e. produce HTML CDs. The retail version lets you customize or remove the ShellRun pop up window, and determines what to do if a suitable viewer program is not available.

SeeSearchWords

SeeSearchWords highlights search words used in DotNetNuke (DNN) searches, and searches done at Google, MSN, Yahoo and Ask Jeeves. SeeSearchWords highlights search words in bold red on a yellow background, with an information header at the top of the page. A US$29 retail version is available that lets you customise the highlighting and header and add navigation arrows. Alternative word stemming rules can be used, inc the provided French and German. The URL patterns matched to find pages to highlight can be edited, eg new search engines can be supported.

FindinSite-MS is a search engine for a MS hosted web site - easily configurable to * look like part of your web site, * index when you want and * highlight result pages FindinSite-MS is an ASP.NET application that runs in IIS on a Windows server, including shared Microsoft-based hosts - .NET framework 1.1 or later. A Search API XML web service is available for complete programmer control.
