Brain Builder - Math E...

Brain Builder - Math Edition

Brain Builder - Math Edition includes over 500 million problems presented in a fun multimedia format. Sharpen your problem solving and critical thinking skills by tackling math puzzles that are presented at precisely your learning level. The program includes Multiple Choice Warm-up games and Three, Four, and Five Number Puzzle games. The problems are easy enough for a third grader to master, but at higher levels they will challenge even a math wizard. Watch your math scores climb dramatically as your rank advances from Learner all the way up to Math Genius. There are three levels of Warm-up games (Basic, Intermediate, and Advanced). The Basic game lets you select addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division to practice on. The Intermediate game randomly uses any one of the four operations. The Advanced game also uses any one of the four operations of addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division in its problems. However, you must find ALL of the correct answers. For example if the question was 3 ? 6 = ? and your answer choices were 2, 3, 6, 9, and 18, you must click on four numbers (2, 6, 9 and 18). These Multiple Choice Warm-up games prepare you to play the Three, Four, and Five Number Puzzle games by making you familiar with using all of the operations of addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division in problem solving. In the Three, Four, and Five Number Puzzle games you must solve the answer using ALL of the given puzzle numbers exactly ONCE. For example, a Three Number Puzzle puzzle problem is 3, 4, 5 = 2. The solution is 3+4 = 7, and 7-5=2. Each of the Three Number, Four Number and Five Number Puzzle games have four levels of difficulty. As well, all games have two different modes of play. You can select the "10 problem" mode, or "time trial" mode in which you must correctly answer as many problems as you can within a fixed time limit. Also features a special One-On-One combat option that makes math an exciting two-player game. Brain Builder - Math Edition is a shareware categorized under math tools.

SAT GRE Crash Course

SAT GRE Crash Course teaches 840 frequently appearing SAT and GRE words. It features a study level and five different learning levels. The five learning levels allow the student to attack the words from different angles allowing more complete learning. A special "Crash Course" rapid learning plan is also included. The 840 vocabulary words are divided into 42 lists of 20 words each. It is suggested that students master one word list at a time. The word list may be selected from the "Subject" menu at the top of the form. After selecting the appropriate word list, the player is ready to proceed to Level One. Level One, "Quizzes - Multiple-Choice," is the standard vocabulary quiz with which most students are familiar. Each vocabulary word has five multiple choice answers; the student must pick the correct one. Whether the student gets the answer correct or incorrect, the full definition of the word is provided for further study. After finishing Level One, a list of words will appear. The player can then mark the words that he or she doesn't know well enough. This word list will appear after each level except Level Four. At any point the student can choose to concentrate on his or her marked words by selecting "Marked Words" from the "Subject" menu. Level Two, "Quizzes - Multiple Choice With Definitions First," also has vocabulary quizzes. On this level however the definition is provided and the student must pick the word that best fits the definitioon. On Level Three, "Flip Cards - Supply The Definition," each vocabulary word is presented to the student. The student then must define the word to himself and hit the submit button. He then must compare his definition to the one provided, and score it on a scale from zero to five. On Level Four, "Matching," the student must match the ten words in column one with the ten definitions in column two by dragging and dropping. Hurry up! Astro-Mania teaches al...

Astro-Mania

Astro-Mania teaches all the important facts about 38 astronomical objects such as planets and stars. It has a learning database that includes essays, images, and lists of all the important facts for each of the 38 space objects. The space objects include the nine planets, stars and star types, asteroids, meteorites, galaxies, and more. Games based on this database allow the player to connect to the facts in four different ways, enhancing learning. Not only do players connect the fact (or clue) to the name of the object as do traditional games, they also make three more connections. They are: matching the fact to the object's image, matching the name to the object's image, and finally matching one fact about the object to another one. Additionally, Astro-Mania includes a review screen after each round. This review screen includes the part of the essay that relates to each fact. Thus, game players can read additional material about the fact to place it into context. This allows the players not only to know the fact but also to understand it. Astro-Mania includes one study level and seven game levels. The seven game levels allow the player to advance sequentially, to master one level before tackling another. Level one is easy whereas level seven is quite hard, even for those who know astronomy. Each level includes a ranking so that players know exactly how they rate. Players will see their scores jump from Learner to Scientist and finally to Einstein. This is a shareware listed under astronomy category.
