Web Bubba
The Worldwide Web has changed rapidly since its humble beginnings. From a tool of communication and information, it has become the preferred tool of vendors trying to outscream each other and attract your attention by displaying annoying, flashing and shaking, ads on almost every web page there is. Luckily, you can protect yourself and filter out all contents of any ad server (or any other web server) you want in two simple steps. First, add them all to the hosts file on your computer, redirecting them to 127.0.0.1 (or you can just download our hosts file if this seems too complicated). Second, install Web Bubba, the powerful yet small and fast server that runs on your own computer (and is only seen by your computer) and gives your web browser a tiny invisible image instead of all those ads or other unwanted contents. The server is fully configurable. You can turn it on or off any time you want. It is written in assembly language (source code included, too), so it is one lean and mean Bubba! Of course, you can use it to filter out any web server, not just the ad servers. If you are a public library required by law to filter out sleezy and hateful sites, Web Bubba can handle those. And you do not even have to pay a monthly fee for some outsider to do it for you and slow down your Internet access in the process. With Web Bubba your access is sped up considerably: No time is wasted downloading ads or any other filtered-out contents. No time is wasted by the browser trying to access a non-existent web server if you just edit your hosts file but have no server in place. Web Bubba is freedom. Freedom from unwanted advertising. Freedom from unwanted contents. And freedom to choose what you want to filter out yourself and without a monthly fee as opposed to paying someone else to decide what may or may not appear on your own computer (do you really want to give that much control over yourself to someone else?). Web Bubba is a internet software.

Imaginary Web Server
An unprotected Windows computer connected to the Internet is in danger of being broken into by outside intruders who continuously scan the Internet for security holes. Many computers use a firewall for protection. Unfortunately, firewalls can be bypassed by clever attackers. The Imaginary Web Server (IWS) makes the attackers think that they have found a web server which is no longer active. When they come to your computer, the server will give them an error message and send them to http://some.imaginaryplace.com - some imaginary place on the web. Now, don't worry, you will not be sending them to some unsuspecting web site! Whiz Kid Technomagic has secured the imaginaryplace.com domain and delegated the some.imaginaryplace.com subdomain, so they will, indeed, find the "new" location of "your" web site. They will go there and leave your computer in peace. Meanwhile, your computer remains perfectly safe from these attackers. No matter what file they try to access on your computer, no matter what command they try to execute on your computer, your IWS always reacts the same way. It never lets them access the inside of your computer but always sends them off. Some attackers try a different approach. Instead of trying to get to your files, they try to upload files to your system. Often these are scripts or programs they want to run on your computer. The Imaginary Web Server will, again, tell them there no longer is anywhere to upload files on your system and will send them away. Some attackers try to upload huge files, just to keep your system busy and to slow down your Internet access. The IWS shuts the door on them. Other attackers try to sneak in a hidden web server on your system and let that server cooperate with the attackers. But only one web server can exist on your computer. With IWS running, they cannot run. And if they start running first, IWS will tell you that another web server is already running, so you can find it and disable it. web server freeware listed in web server section.

Imaginary Telnet Server
Whenever your computer is connected to the Internet, it is opened up to attacks by anyone experienced with the Internet technology. One of the possible attacks is by using the Telnet protocol to log into your system. If successful, the attacker can gain complete control of your system. With the Imaginary Telnet Server running, he will be served a fake response which will prevent him from accessing any resources available on your system. The server will give him the impression that he has found a top secret military computer. But when he tries to log in, the server will offer humorous rejections. If he uses one of the password cracking programs and tries to log in persistently, the server will feed him a series of completely fake data for a while, making him think that he got in. After a while, the server will "discover" the intruder and kick him off. No matter how hard the attacker tries, he cannot log in to your system via Telnet. Use it by itself or alongside a firewall. the server runs in the background and stays out of your way completely. Full assembly language source is included, so it can also be used as a model for assembly language programming of Internet servers for Windows computers. Imaginary Telnet Server license is freeware and it is listed in telnet software.

Keep My IP
Your IP address is to your Internet connection what your phone number is to your telephone, except it tends to change all the time. That is fine for most people who only need to connect to other Internet locations. But if you run your own servers, others need to connect to you, and you need to keep your IP address from changing dynamically. One way to assure that is by keeping your DSL modem connected to your DSL provider. Additionally, however, your computer needs to keep "talking." Typically, people solve this problem by pinging some web site regularly. That works. Unfortunately, that also abuses the resources of that web site. KeepMyIP takes a different approach. Instead of pinging some third party, it sends a random DNS query to your ISP at random intervals ranging from 1 second to 10 minutes, with an average of around 5 minutes. This tells your ISP that your computer is currently active on the Internet. It does so very fast without involving any unrelated Internet sites. It also does it without wasting your computer memory and CPU cycles. KeepMyIP is written in assembly language, so it is very small and lightning fast. In between the queries it puts itself to sleep so it does not interfere with whatever your computer is doing. It runs silently in the background without ever popping any windows. If, for some reason, you need to send out queries more often than every five minutes, or so, you can run KeepMyIP more than once. Two copies will poll your ISP twice as often, three copies three times as often, etc. Normally, however, KeepMyIP starts one copy of itself as soon as your Windows boots up and keeps running until you shut down the system. Of course, if you run an Internet server, you should avoid shutting down your system, except for very brief periods of time (minutes). Otherwise, your servers are not running and neither is KeepMyIP, so your IP address may change. But if you keep your system up and running, you can keep your IP for a very long time. This internet software is listed under dsl clients.
