SurfSaver Pro

askSam Systems' SurfSaver 2.0 PRO was honored by PC World with a 2000 World Class Award for the Best Internet Utility. SurfSaver is a browser add-on which allows users to store Web pages directly from their browser into searchable folders. Once saved, users can quickly search and browse these pages (even when they are not connected to the Internet). Unlike bookmarks, SurfSaver creates a permanent archive of Web pages in folders on your computer -- a real advantage given the "here today, gone tomorrow" nature of the Internet. SurfSaver is accessed directly from the browser (either Netscape 4.x or Internet Explorer 4.x or higher). Users can save a single page, multiple pages, or an entire Web site including frames, associated graphics, and hypertext links. The pages are stored on a user's hard drive in a browser-searchable database. SurfSaver allows full-text, Boolean, date, and proximity searches in the pages that are saved. "The Internet has changed the way students, professors, analysts, journalists, and businesses gather information. It's by far the most comprehensive, easy to access source of information that has ever existed. With SurfSaver, we provide online researchers a valuable tool to make more effective use of the Internet" says Schnyder. SurfSaver, orginally launched January 13, 2000, was recently updated. SurfSaver 2.3 is available in two versions: a downloadable FREE version, and the PRO version. The PRO version can be downloaded for $29.95. SurfSaver Pro license is commercial and it is listed in internet utility, browser add-on software.

Add notes and descriptions to your databases. Turn e-mail, texts, and Internet information into searchable databases. askSam is easy to use. You can search without learning a query language. You can create reports without programming. askSam was designed for users, not for programmers. askSam searches are fast, powerful, and easy. Type in any word or phrase, and askSam finds it... anywhere in your database. No complicated query language. No need to remember what field contains what information. "Whether your information is simple, structured, or random, askSam provides an easy way to stash it and an easy way to find it again. Best of all, since it behaves like a word processor, you won't spend weeks learning to use it." - PC Computing If you're still using Word for Windows to keep your address book and your e-mail client as a PIM, then you should be using askSam. Behaving more like a word processor than a database, this atypical document-centric freeform database lets you store and search both structured and unstructured data. Its ability to perform full-text searching of documents makes it ideal for legal, medical or research knowledge workers. "I've used a lot of different tools for searching, but I've yet to find anything that approaches the depth, variety, strength, and sophistication of the search tools that askSam provides." - Rick Gates - Database Magazine. database software demo listed in database software section.
