Full-featured implementation of the de facto industry standard COCOMO 81 (detailed model) software project effort and schedule estimation algorithms, with extensions that also project cost based on development organization labor grade/pay structure. Calculations are based on estimated program size, adjusted for development environment characteristics (complexity, reliability, throughput/memory constraints, etc.). Detailed model supports functional decomposition of program to components that can be more accurately estimated. Attribute factors are applied at all levels of the program structure, allowing best characterization for various differences across the project. SCEP also includes estimates for the reuse of existing modules with modifications.

Serial Port Monitor

Captures and displays time-tagged text and binary data across a PC serial port, from COM1 to COM12. Supports simultaneous capture to screen, with optional output to file and printer. Display & file/printer capture in three modes: single character, line (terminated by LF or CR), or string (terminated by specified quiet time gap). NOTE: Does not share a COMM port with another Windows program, must tap off serial line externally.

Change Request Tracker

Tracks Change Requests (CRs) for defects and new features through a full change control cycle: new, analysis, implementation, close-out. Single-user version is well suited for small to medium sized software development projects. Database supports multiple concurrent projects and project personnel. Optional (selectable by project) e-mail notification of key project personnel on CR state changes. Flexible selection criteria for printed reports makes the report generator an effective management tool.

C/C++ SLOC Counter

Counts C/C++ source program physical & logical lines of code. Useful for various management planning and reporting tasks, calculating quality metrics, or just to gauge your program size estimation skills. Counts both physical lines of code (i.e., card images) in various categories (blank, C-style comments, C++-style comments, blank lines, compiler directives, etc.) and logical (semicolon count) lines for a single file or a complete directory. Instructions are included (with an .xls file to use as a template) for exporting results to an Excel spreadsheet for analysis & graphing.

File Display Utility

Displays and prints disk file dumps in both ASCII text and binary (hexadecimal) formats. Files can be treated as either text files terminated by CR or LF, or as binary files handled as 16-byte wide blocks. Especially useful in analyzing non-printing characters in developer capture files or confirming files generated by developer programs have no extraneous non-printing characters.
